New equipment presented by Baby Lifeline
Exclusive Ladies Lunch Celebration

Chair Lord Hunt, Governors and Head of Midwifery Joy Payne for the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust attended the press call to receive the first funded equipment for Baby Lifeline’s Heartlands Appeal.
Thanks to Balsall Common Lions, who have great support from its local community, and other charitable trust making groups, Baby Lifeline presented the first maternity equipment since launching an appeal for £250K for maternity and special care baby unit equipment at the end of last year, with its Vice president BBC presenter Nick Owen.
The Lions have funded a fetal Doppler for Solihull’s maternity unit (a hand held device that monitors the unborn baby’s heart rate and can be used in the community or in a hospital unit, and the Lions have stated that they are delighted to donate this Fetal Doppler to Baby Lifeline to assist in the vital work it does for the region
A further delivery of 12 baby weighing scales (3 high spec for the delivery suites in Solihull, Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield), as well as 7 for community use with 7 special carrying cases, was also presented at the same time from funds raised so far for the appeal.
Over 11,000 babies are delivered every year in the Heartlands NHS Trust hospitals, which are in Birmingham, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield.
Equipment ranging from hand held fetal monitors, to more complex hospital based monitoring for both mothers and babies, and equipment to be used in the community, will be provided through volunteer fundraising efforts in the Midlands.
Judy Ledger – Founder of Baby Lifeline, is delighted with the generosity shown by the Balsall Common Lions and appeals to other organisations, individuals, and work place supporters to get involved if they can, to help to raise the £250,000 needed to make such a difference to thousands of our Midlands mothers to be and their unborn and newborn babies. She urges anyone interested in supporting this appeal to get in touch and help to raise the rest of the much needed funds.
