Wendy O’Hare Skincare
by Karen Jones

If you feel your skin lacks vitality and firmness, this facial ritual feels as if it has been tailor made.
Mine certainly felt below par before I visited Wendy O’Hare Skin Care. I’d had a busy few weeks and it was a real treat to step into this light and airy salon for an exclusive Caudalie facial.
This exclusive Tiddington salon, near Stratford-upon-Avon, exudes a zen calm that one expects in luxury retreats such as these, so it is very easy to leave your cares at the door and enjoy an hour or so of “me time”.
Once inside, I soon started to relax when I was talked through the process of the firming facial from the Caudalie Personalised Skin Care range that I was to experience.
Created by French woman Mathilde Thomas, this highly respected collection of products uses extracts from grapevine stalks and other natural ingredients such as sage, Fair Trade shea butter, ginseng and plant oils, to tackle dull and tired skin, dark spots and spots.
The facial ritual, as it is called, is designed to repair and build collagen and elastin in the skin and takes 75 blissful minutes to complete.
My therapist began by explaining the facial massage rollers that tone and lift facial muscles to encourage the removal of toxins.
Relaxing a little deeper, I was wrapped in the treatment room and underwent a Caudalie double cleanse and my skin was drenched in grape water, a light, ultra smoothing mist that contains extract of organic grape juices.
My skin was then misted with Beauty Elixir, which helped to tighten the pores, in readiness for the Caudalie Deep Cleansing Exfoliator, a product that removes impurities and dead skin cells.
My skin was already feeling clean and healthy, but it was drenched once again with grape water before the manual rollers were applied over my neck and face.
Then it was time for a massage, which used hydrating oils to lift and firm the skin around the face, neck, décolleté shoulders, arms and hands.
I’ve had many facials before, but this was definitely in a class of its own. After a series of pampering treats, my therapist then applied a mask that was customised to suit the needs of my skin.
The double brush application was incredibly calming to the senses and once it was in place, I received a wonderful foot cleanse and foot massage.
As if I hadn’t relaxed enough, I was then left for a short time to rest alone.
A final stage saw the application of Beauty Elixir, a serum, eye cream and moisturisers that were specific to my skin needs.
And how did I look afterwards? Marvellous. My skin looked and felt plumper, fresher and revitalised. How did I feel? Utterly relaxed and calm. It was just what I needed. I cannot recommend this exclusive, yet friendly salon enough.
