Vogue hair salon celebrates 21 years in business

Vogue international celebrates 21 years in business

Vogue International – one of Leamington Spa’s top hair salons – has celebrated 21 years in business by raising £1,500 for one of its favourite charities.

Liz O’Mahoney, who founded Vogue International (or Nu Vogue as it was called, when it first opened in 1991), organised a spectacular night of fashion and hair at the Pump Room Gardens with Revolve to mark the milestone.

And she was delighted to raise the substantial sum for Myton Hospice in memory of her parents.

It was in the late 1980s, when Liz O’Mahony was a rising Leamington hairdresser, that she decided she wanted to branch out on her own and create Nu Vogue.

Her dreams came true when her father Richard (Dick) O’Mahony said he would give her a loan so she could realise her dream.

Nu Vogue transformed into Vogue International with the move to 2-4 Tavistock Street, and with Neil Usher, now her husband, it became the perfect partnership.

Liz says her greatest asset is the Vogue team. “They are fabulously creative and endlessly energetic making the salon a hive of activity, creating a warm welcoming environment,” she says.

The salons stylists’ expertise lie in their creative colouring and cutting, and there are three Goldwell Colour Experts (Masters) within the team. All stylists, even the juniors and assistants, benefit from Vogue International’s continuous in-house training programmes.

To showcase Liz and the Vogue team’s skills, the salon enters Goldwell ColorZoom competition each year and it has enjoyed remarkable success, making the UK finals each year since 2009.

This year, Liz reached the finals of the “Partner Colourist” category with her fabulous model Steph, creating a gorgeous “fascinature” natural flowing coppery hairstyle with violet and light blonde highlights.

Liz and Neil created the “Easyfoil method” of hair colouring process, which the team and an ever growing number stylists in the hairdressing industry use to create fabulously coloured hair.

Its unique signature is the tri-coloured foil (in two colour ways), which helps the stylist to keep track of colour placement throughout the hair colouring process. For details, visit the website www.hairbyvogue.co.uk | www.easyfoil.com

Liz is a highly accomplished stylist, a past Goldwell Ambassador teaching the Easyfoil method of hair colouring to students at its Academy in London. Her membership of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing enables her to give back her knowledge and expertise, especially to up-and-coming stylists.

But she has never forgotten how she began her career – it was thanks to her father’s business loan. And he was the salon’s biggest fan and was often seen there until he died two years ago.

Now Liz also spends time raising money for the hospice in Warwick, a charity that is close to her heart, and she is thrilled to have marked her 21st year in business raising £1,500 for it.

“A huge thank you to all our clients who supported us,” she adds.
