josephfoote2

The Joseph Foote Trust celebrated in style with an exclusive ladies lunch at the stunning Hogarths Hotel and Restaurant in Dorridge.

Guests enjoyed a festive two-course meal followed by entertainment from Britain’s Got Talent star Damon Scott at the event, which raised more than £2,500 for the Solihull-based brain tumour research charity.

josephfoote22

Set up by Andy and Judy Foote in memory of their nine-year-old son Joseph who died of the disease in 2007, the charity received the proceeds of a round of ‘heads or tails’ and a raffle that offered a host of fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses.

Event Organiser, Tracey Dunn, said:  “We were, once again, delighted with the generosity and tremendous support for this very worthy cause.  We are now looking forward to another successful year of fundraising in 2012!”

josephfoote32

Since it was established in 2001, The Joseph Foote Trust has raised more than £2million and has an ambitious target to secure a further £1million in 2012 to fund cutting edge research to dramatically improve survival rates in both adults and children.

Master Chef Tim Anderson at Peels

Hampton Manor says Konnichiwa to Far Eastern cuisine

Masterchef’s Tim Anderson brought his famously complex Japanese cuisine to Hampton Manor, Solihull.

brenden cole

The 2011 winner teamed up with Peel’s Restaurant to offer an exotic eating experience for two nights in what was a sell-out event.

The chef, whose cooking style has been inspired Heston Blumenthal, created a six-course Japanese themed dinner, each of which was paired with an expertly matched Japanese drink.

brenden cole

At 26, Wisconsin-born Tim is the youngest ever winner on Masterchef. His twist on Japanese cuisine helped him secure the show’s crown and he has quickly become a pioneer for innovative cooking styles.

He found his passion for the Far Eastern cuisine after living in Japan for a number of years and is now keen to bring the exotic cuisine to our tables.

Tim teamed up with Martyn Pearn, head chef at Peel’s Restaurant, to create the tasting menu and also mingled with guests afterwards to talk about each of the dishes that was served.

brenden cole

“To work alongside Martyn was a wonderful opportunity,” he said.

James Hill, owner and director of Hampton Manor, said the collaboration with Tim was a fabulous experience for everyone at the hotel.

brenden cole

“Guests loved sampling the cuisine”, he added.

The event, which took place at the High Street restaurant on November 8th, saw diners not only tuck into some amazing culinary delights, such as seabass in spicy bean sauce and tiger prawns with chilli and pepper, but try out some Champagne.

brenden cole

Stephen Astbury, Laurent Perrier area manager, provided guests with an insight into the company and he personally selected from the vast selection of Champagnes on offer at the restaurant  his own choice to accompany each course.

The evening started with a complimentary glass of Grand Siècle (which sells for £115 per bottle), a Laurent-Perrier Champagne that is perfect for every occasion. Then diners moved onto a 2002 vintage, which was a fabulous wine, full of vivacity and a depth of flavour. Lucky diners enjoyed tastings of six Champagnes, finishing with the ultimate Alexandra Rose, which Stephen said expressed the highest standards epitomised by the House of Laurent Perrier and occupies a unique niche in its range.

At £385 a bottle – and only available at Henry Wong in Birmingham – perhaps it’s worth a visit for that special occasion!

Bower Willis Launch

Imagine going into a kitchen showroom to find that not only are the kitchens fully functional, but the cupboards and drawers filled with ingredients and essential equipment.

This is what Bower Willis Designs of Shipston-on-Stour does.

This innovative approach means that clients are able to see exactly how a top class British-made Callerton kitchen or a cool, contemporary Austrian design from Ewe or InTuo look in everyday use.

Bower Willis Designs opened its showroom in October and displays three complete kitchens, all of which are laden with store cupboard ingredients, Maxwell Williams crockery, Robert Welch cutlery, utensils from Joseph Joseph and Spielglau glasses that can be purchased.

Angela Bower, who owns the company with husband Jeremy, said stocking up the kitchens enables customers to see exactly how the kitchens work in everyday use.

The couple also organise monthly cookery demonstrations so customers can learn how they get the best out of their superior AEG and V-ZUG appliances, such as the induction hobs and woks or combination steam and microwave ovens.

“We not only design kitchens that will work for individuals or families, but we can show them the capacity of the cupboards by filling them with goods in our showroom,” explains Angela. “It helps our customers to really visualise how the kitchen could work for them.

“And by demonstrating how the appliances work, they can also learn how to get the most out of their kitchens.”
